Job Description

POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE), to join Professor Dirk Englund’s Quantum Photonics Group (QPG). Will pursue experimental and theoretical research in advanced photonics, quantum information science and engineering, and machine learning/AI. Much of the work is heavy in computing (see GitHub). Will collaborate with a team of forty-plus scientists, engineers, and students; produce work for publication and present work at scientific conferences; and mentor graduate students.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED: a Ph.D. in physics, electrical engineering, or closely related science and engineering discipline; experience working with optics or photonics and an understanding of Fourier Optics, integrated photonics, or atomic systems; and proficiency with programming and software for electromagnetic simulation (preferably Python, MATLAB). Must be able to communicate effectively and work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment with staff and students from across MIT, other universities, government research, and private industry. PREFERRED: experience with integrated photonics design, modeling (Luminerical, MEEP, etc.), and layout (gdspy, etc.), free-space optics (Zemax), and RF design (HFSS). Job #22128
