Educational Equity Data Specialist

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion to ensure the success of groups historically underrepresented and underserved in higher education.
- Proven ability to provide good judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving. Demonstrated ability to assess needs and develop strategies to support diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Extract and analyze data from the campus management information system and external database using various software programs, such as Oracle SQL developers, SPSS, MS Access, or other tools.
- Create, develop, and maintain internal Institutional Research databases related to student enrollment projections, follow-up studies, analyses of program enrollment patterns, and identify equity gaps.
- Conducts advanced statistical analysis and data mining supporting strategic planning, student success, and other purposes, with emphasis on institutional effectiveness and accountability.
- Provide data and reports in response to internal and state agencies’ requests to fulfill reporting requirements.
- Develop and create informative data visualizations using Tableau or other appropriate tools.
- Assist in developing consistent and compliant reporting procedures.
- Assist in developing, analyzing, and maintaining institutional research studies supporting program evaluations.
- Performs other related duties as requested or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s or higher degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, social sciences, education, or a related field; and
- Appropriate years of work experience performing data mining or research and data analysis.
- The successful candidate must pass a Department of Justice (DOJ) fingerprint background check and provide proof of freedom from Tuberculosis (TB) via a chest x-ray or a TB skin test.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
COMPENSATION and BENEFITS:
The salary range for the position is a Grade 3 on theConfidential Salary Schedule, with a range of $64,610.00-87,571.00 per year. West Kern Community College District offers a comprehensive fringe benefits program that includes District paid medical, dental and vision coverage for all employees and their dependents, as well as a generous vacation plan. Employees are eligible for membership in either CalPERS or CalSTRS retirement systems.
