Maintain SLCC recycling objectives which include, but are not limited to: picking up recyclable items from all college campuses and bringing the items back to be properly sorted at the main recycling center on the Redwood Campus.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
It is the responsibility of the recycling staff to empty all Paper, Corrugated Cardboard, Plastic, Glass and Aluminum Can s and transport them to the recycling center at the Redwood campus. Give excellent customer service when helping students, faculty and staff properly recycle the items they have. Collect aerosol cans, used toner cartridges along with other recyclable items from all College campus locations. The recycling staff will also operate the arousal can disposal equipment and florescent light bulb crusher. It’s also the responsibility of the recycling staff to bail all corrugated cardboard by properly operating and maintaining the cardboard baler. Assist the Surplus Department in scrapping out all broken and unsalable items before final disposal. This includes disassembly and break down of computers, electronics, and other miscellaneous items that will then be properly recycled. They will be trained to learn how to safely operate a verity of forklifts, large van with trailer attached, and the other recycling equipment. Another responsibility is to pick up, weigh, record and deliver secure shredding bins anywhere they are needed on campus. They also perform weekly vehicle inspections which can but does not always include washing, vacuuming, and cleaning the vehicles as well. Also, recycling workers must keep track of and submit reports of the work they have done each day into a data entry system known as Sprocket.

Work independently, be dependable and reliable, show up to work on time, and keep a tight work schedule. Work in conjunction with and other Facilities Departments. Complete other duties as assigned.

Ability to follow instructions, report to work on time and stay focused on required tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid Utah Driver’s License
High School Degree or equalivent or the ability to obtain GED
Able to lift 75 lbs.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft office software and other general computer knowledge. Ability to stay on task and follow instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
