Summary

We are looking for a Program and Events Administrator to support activities that support our mission. This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant, collaborative team focused on teaching and learning across the College of Engineering and beyond. We are an important partner in the College's mission to provide support to instructors at all levels, ensuring a first-class engineering education that is inclusive, innovative, and experiential. You will report to the Director and contribute to the work of a well-established STEM teaching center. The salary range for this position is $43,000-$48,000. Factors used to determine salary include: experience, knowledge, and skills for the position. You are encouraged to discuss salary questions for transparency throughout the recruiting process.

Responsibilities*

  • Concurrently organize activities for multiple programs of varying size and complexity using project management tools such as Asana or Trello; ensure deadlines are met and priorities are set
  • Coordinate logistics for in-person and online events, including venue, audio visual needs, staffing, scheduling, catering, attendance and requests for services
  • Update our website and Canvas course content with an eye towards impactful communications and attention to detail
  • Communicate efficiently with internal and external collaborators using email, phone and status reports
  • Use Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, or Illustrator to create promotional materials
  • Participate in professional development opportunities related to the position, including those associated with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and
  • Connect with a network of administrative professionals across the University
  • Events are occasionally before 8am, after 5pm and on weekends. You may routinely lift/move equipment and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires travel across campus.

Required Qualifications*

  • 2+ years of experience in project/program management or event planning
  • Applied knowledge of project management best practices
  • Knowledge of and working experience with software packages including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and comfort with learning new software
  • Demonstrated experience providing a high level of customer service
  • Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, including an interest in working with diverse teams

Work Locations

This position will be classified as a flex position within the Michigan Engineering STARR classification matrix which means working on campus 2-3 days per week and working remotely the rest of the week. You can find more information here: https://rpm.engin.umich.edu/human-resources/telecommuting/
