Job Description

The College of Business and Health Administration at the University of St. Francis, a Catholic, Franciscan institution in Joliet, IL invites applications for a full time instructor of Accounting at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor or tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Accounting to begin in August, 2023.

The successful candidate will teach primarily undergraduate Accounting courses and business electives at the undergraduate and graduate levels in both traditional face-to-face and online formats. The candidate will join an energetic, innovative faculty with members whose assignments are in classroom and experiential instruction and are collectively responsible for curriculum design, planning, implementation and evaluation, and for the development and implementation of specific course offerings in the curriculum. Our faculty is known for its devotion to education through leading edge student-focused educational methodology. We serve traditional aged and adult students through a variety of learning modalities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and instruct in all courses as assigned as a full time faculty member;
  • Assist with ongoing development and improvement of the program curriculum;
  • Advise assigned students;
  • Assist adjunct faculty as needed with classroom needs;
  • Participate in all College of Business and Health Administration and School of Business meetings;
  • Participate in activities characteristic of University faculty members, including teaching, research, faculty development, University and community service and scholarly activities;
  • Assist in maintaining current ACBSP certification; and
  • Such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Dean or Chair.

Minimum Requirements
  • Willingness to support the Catholic and Franciscan values of the university:
  • Doctorate in accounting or closely related field
  • Demonstrated communication skills and ability to relate to the general public, students, and faculty in a tactful, collegial, and courteous manner;
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position

Preferred Requirements
  • CPA with strong, practical accounting work experience
  • Experience teaching in higher education;
  • Full-time work experience as an accountant or auditor or consultant;
  • Other relevant professional certification(s)

Hours/Shift/Work Schedule
This is a full-time appointment beginning August, 2023.

Teaching face-to-face and online courses is expected along with a regular schedule of available advising hours and attendance at on-campus meetings several times per semester.

Physical Requirements of Position
Work is performed in a classroom and office settings with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Substantial time is spent in classrooms and the office, including using a computer. This is sedentary work which requires the following physical activities: sitting, walking, bending, stooping, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.
