Full Job Description

This professional will partner closely with the Chief Advancement Officer, Senior Director of Engagement and Giving, the Archdiocese’s Executive Director of Communications and other leaders to develop and implement a strategic Advancement communication and marketing plan, aligned with overall Archdiocesan messaging, for audiences comprised of prospective and current donors, parishioners, internal stakeholders, and friends of the AOB. The director ensures that AOB and Advancement editorial strategies, messaging, and branding are understood and adhered to in all work produced by Advancement. The successful candidate will possess superb persuasive writing and communications skills and superior project management acumen and will be a proven leader and manager of developing and executing broad-based and personalized communications across multiple platforms, including print, digital, and video. With excellent customer service and an upbeat demeanor, the director will maintain close effective working relationships with colleagues across Advancement, the AOB's Department of Marketing/Communications, other AOB communications professionals, and outside communications vendors.

In addition, this professional serves as project manager (traffic control), responsible for coordinating and managing the development and production of communications materials (electronic and print) across Advancement. Core to the role's success will be the ability to hire, manage, train, retain, motivate, and inspire other creative professionals. The position also sets and monitors budgets, and implements systems, procedures, and practices for the Advancement Communications and Marketing Office that guide cohesion, consistency, and high-caliber deliverables.

Qualifications:

Experience, Knowledge & Skills Required

  • Clear, compelling, and persuasive presenter and writer, able to convey impact about the AOB and CCF's mission to inspire others to support a variety of programs with proven attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness
  • Conversant in relevant and contemporary technologies and how can use these in support of communicating and marketing direct mail and electronic solicitation programs, including increasing participation and measuring and managing results
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and social media marketing with experience managing digital content
  • Experience with search engine marketing, Google Analytics, and Google AdWords
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro) and with databases (such as Raiser's Edge), e-CRMs, and Microsoft Office applications, holding advanced skills in MS Word (editing, formatting, citations, headers, footers, pagination, image embedding) and with PowerPoint and Canva

Minimum Education and Work History Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or a related discipline
  • At least five years of communications, marketing, or public relations experience
  • The successful candidate must also demonstrate an understanding of donor communications for a successful fundraising program
  • Preference is given to candidates with an understanding of the Archdiocese of Baltimore's philanthropic community and with Catholic non-profit experience
