Executive Summary
Major Gift Officer manages and solicits a portfolio of donor prospects with an estimated philanthropic capacity of $10,000 or more. The Major Gift Officer will report to the Vice President of Advancement and will work closely with the President and Directors of Advancement to assist with the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of assigned major gift prospects. A fundraising generalist, with particular emphasis on major gifts.
Selected Duties
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward major and planned gift prospects supporting Archbishop Moeller High School’s philanthropic efforts. This includes managing relationships with a portfolio of 125 prospects who has the ability to give $10,000 or more. Develop personalized plans for each prospect to actively move the prospect along the fundraising continuum from Qualification to Cultivation to Solicitation to Stewardship.
  • Provide personalized stewardship and impact reports to assigned donors and works collaboratively with the Advancement Team to develop and submit major gift proposals to assigned prospects
  • Prepare briefing documents as appropriate for event preparation including profiles for donor prospects and follow-up, including research, discovery, cultivation and stewardship plan for attendees
  • Secure and enter information to update donor profiles and activity in Raiser’s Edge NXT
  • Participate in engagement and professional development activities for the Advancement Team. Continue professional growth and development in the areas of planned giving and major giving
  • Perform other duties as directed
  • Attend advancement events when appropriate
  • Other related responsibilities as directed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree (equivalent experience in related field will be considered)
  • 3 – 5 years related experience. Experience in educational philanthropy is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively represent the school’s Mission to external audiences. Strong analytical skills with the ability to create clear and concise reports for internal and external stakeholders. Creativity and demonstrated success in personally cultivating, soliciting, stewarding prospects and volunteers and ultimately closing gifts. Knowledge of planned gifts and strategies and the ability to identify planned giving opportunities among major gift prospects. Ability to set and manage multiple priorities
  • Requires strong proficiency with computers and software, including, Raisers’ Edge and Microsoft Office
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing within the Archdiocese of Cincinnati preferred
  • Moeller High School and/or Greater Cincinnati professional or personal network preferred
  • Database management experience preferred
Compensation, Benefits and Hiring
