We’re looking for a talented mid- to senior-level software engineer to join us as a member of a mission-focused team in the Applied Analytics and Emerging Technology Lab (AETL). As part of the Lucy Family Institute for Data & Society, AETL is focused on propelling adoption of analytics and emerging technology to create a thriving industry community and to apply data science directly to the societal challenges we are facing. We are where technology meets data, meets the community. Through industry, civic, and research partnerships we are working directly with our community on wicked problems.
In this role you would work closely with industry customers, partners, AETL data scientists and researchers to plan and manage analytics and web/mobile based software development projects in collaboration with a wide range of businesses including manufacturing and healthcare. This role requires completion of software development and programming tasks related to data management, processing, and visualization; prototype development for new front-end/back-end solutions; and experience with a variety of technology environments ranging from databases to mobile apps to cloud computing platforms. The successful candidate will be a team player that works well with other developers, faculty and university researchers, students, and business entities.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 3-4 years work experience.

- Programming experience in one or more languages relevant for data processing and ETL development (e.g., Python, NodeJS, SQL, Postgres, etc.) and other data warehousing activities
- Programming experience in one or more modern front end frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, etc)
- Ability to ensure performant back-end infrastructure
- Experience at structured, iterative development using a shared code repository such as GitHub.
- Strong project management skills; ability to analyze a project’s big-picture data needs
- Clear communication skills.
- Experienced at advising project leadership related to challenges with software under development and at coordinating solutions between internal and external partners.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex technical problems with minimal oversight.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with machine learning(ML), experience with mobile application development, familiarity with data science concepts.
- Experience integrating with vended systems through APIs, Web interfaces, or direct connections
