Job Description

We are seeking a limited-term Fine Art Handler to work from now through March 2024 under the guidance of the Chief Art Preparator and with the Art Preparator and Art Handler to pack, move, and install 1,300+ fine art objects.

This major project requires the professional handling of paintings, sculptures, and decorative art objects, and various indigenous objects from the Americas and Africa.

Once moved, starting in late Summer 2023 the Art Handler will assist with the installation of the new RMMA art galleries in time for its November 2023 public opening and then the installation of the first temporary exhibition in the new museum, which is scheduled to open in March 2024.

They will sometimes be asked to move artworks as needed in the current Snite Museum and in other campus buildings.

They must know and have practiced current art museum professional standards for storing, packing, unpacking, and moving fine art objects properly, and know how to frame works of art.

At times, they may also be asked to assist the Museum’s education curators by moving artworks from storage to the Object Study Room as needed for classes.
