Pittsburgh Technical College is a private, non-profit, regionally accredited institution committed to a higher standard of educational excellence focused on academic and professional success. Located on a beautiful 180-acre campus in in Western Pennsylvania, PTC was founded in 1946. PTC awards associate and bachelor’s degrees and certificates within 10 Schools and 30 Programs. PTC offers a college experience that is empowering and culminates in internships and clinical rotations for on-campus, degree-seeking students.

Purpose of Job

Responsible for the administration of an established financial aid program (federal, state and institutional funds) that adheres to regulations with integrity, along with upholding the mission and vision of the college. Monitors budgets, provides financial aid related advisement, and establishes procedures and policies in compliance with current federal, state and institutional guidelines.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, accounting, liberal arts, or related field.
    Preferred: Master’s degree in accounting, business, student affairs or public administration.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years PTC work experience in financial aid or planning or 5 years financial aid school experience or other related work experience with finances.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills to solve problems, analyze trends and provide recommendations.
  • Must be detail – oriented
  • NASFAA Professional Credentials preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred

Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES
  • Ensures federal and state financial aid deadlines are met for all students.
  • Provides leadership and direction in all aspects of administering institutional, federal and state financial aid programs.
  • Leads efforts to engage, empower and support a dynamic financial aid team for all students from start to finish of their programs.
  • Hires, supervises and manages professional development and training of financial aid staff members.
  • Understands, interprets, and disseminates guidelines and regulations set by state and federal agencies.
  • Ensures award process, notification, and database management integrity.
  • Maintains financial aid policy and procedures.
  • Manages financial aid and scholarship awarding and revision processes.
  • Manages Satisfactory Academic Progress procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with FERPA.
  • Responsible for keeping abreast the changes within the financial aid profession, including but not limited to changes to U.S. Department of Education, Institutional and State guidelines, and policies.
  • Attends conferences and workshops to maintain core knowledge of Federal Title IV and state aid programs.
  • Aids in the development of annual cost of attendance budgets.
  • Manages financial aid reporting (i.e., FISAP, IPEDS, Common Data Set, Survey requests).
  • Oversees and ensures that the College’s Veteran’s Benefits certification process is efficient, timely and accurate. Ensures compliance with VA regulations, monitors student progress and updates records for reporting. Works with the State Approving Agency to obtain approval of new programs.
  • Auditor program review point of contact.
  • Manages gainful employment.
  • Performs other related tasks as required.
