Overview

The clinical pharmacy practice manager for solid tumor oncology is responsible for the day to day management, development and implementation of clinical pharmacy information including pathways, clinical guidelines, and drug administration guidelines.  This position is responsible for mentorship of staff on clinical projects such as drug use evaluations and clinical guidelines development and revision. The manager will assist the clinical pharmacy team with formulary management and coordination of drug use evaluations and other medication monitoring requirements for Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee review and implementation of practice changes upon approval.  Will participate in and coordinates patient medication information/education materials.  The manger maintains a clinical pharmacy specialist practice and is a clinical resource for the satellite pharmacy staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manages clinical pharmacy specialists in solid tumor oncology roles.
  • Oversight and mentorship of staff involved in clinical projects such as DUEs, guideline development and review and pharmacy research projects.
  • Participates in and assists in coordination of the the clinical pharmacy disease-based pathways and development and coordination of the risks of treatment program for solid tumor oncology
  • Develops, presents and implements clinical pharmacy guidelines and drug administration guidelines
  • Responsible for the medication patient information/education materials and participates in the Patient Education Committee
  • Monitors the formulary management actives for the P&T committee through developing, coordinating and presenting data on medication use evaluations for the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee
  • Assists Oncology Residency Program Director in the role of Residency Program Coordinator
  • Clinical resource for pharmacy satellite staff
  • Coordinates the validation of new Beacon standard of care protocols for solid tumor oncology indications
  • Oversees active patient management activities for relevant changes made to solid tumor oncology protocols
  • Participates in the pharmacy residency training program and clinical student education

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy
  • 7 years of hospital pharmacy experience including 5 years in a specialty practice
  • 3 years pharmacy preceptor or professional development experience
  • Licensed to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Board Certified in Oncology Pharmacy and/or have an advanced degree related to the specialty practice area.
