Job Title

Research & Partnerships Program Manager

Job Description

Are you interested in supporting a dynamic Institute and joining a collegial, skilled, and fast-paced team that is committed to developing its staff members? Please consider applying to serve the Nanovic Institute for European Studies in the Keough School of Global Affairs!

This position directs research initiatives and partnerships of the Nanovic Institute, utilizing project management skills, so that the Institute and its partners are able to realize ambitious research goals. In particular, this position helps lead research and programming within the Catholic Universities Partnership, a critical component of the Institute’s work in Central and Eastern Europe, particularly with the Ukrainian Catholic University. Including initiatives that grow out of the Catholic Universities Partnership, the position holder will manage research projects with interdisciplinary and international research teams that emerge from other new and existing partnerships (shepherding funding applications, facilitating meetings, tracking contributions, and managing outputs such as project publications).

This position will also manage several Institute programs, including the prestigious Laura Shannon Book Prize, the Nanovic Film Series, and other initiatives and partnerships as they develop.

Duties include:

Oversight of Research Projects. This includes executing and managing research projects envisioned in the strategic plan, tracking and complying with ongoing reporting and other requirements, and responding to inquiries (internal and external).

Administer the Catholic Universities Partnership, a hallmark partnership of the Nanovic Institute. This includes facilitating the annual conference, monthly meetings, aspects of the visiting scholars program, the summer leadership program, the Crossing the Square blog, the Summer School for Ukrainian students in Croatia, and other projects.

Laura Shannon Book Prize. In consultation with the Associate Director, administer the solicitations and review process for the Nanovic Institute’s $10,000 Laura Shannon Prize in Contemporary European Studies. The position will need to solicit books from publishers, identify and recruit faculty reviewers, and shepherd the books through a routinized process.

Special Projects. Handle special projects as assigned by the Director or the Associate Director. This might include editing of journals and oversight of the coordination for online or in-person events (such as flash panels). These projects will vary.

Teamwork. Participate in Institute meetings and leadership team meetings, and assist other Nanovic Institute staff members as needed, particularly around signature events. Collaborate with colleagues in the Keough School of Global Affairs as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (4 years).
  • 3 to 4 years of relevant experience in research and/or project managment.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • A sensitivity to and appreciation for Catholic mission (for work with the Catholic Universities Partnership).
  • An appreciation of books and scholarship (for Shannon Prize).

Preferred Qualifications
