Postdoctoral Researcher

The project is through the Center for Research in Extreme Batteries and is part of collaborative research work by researchers from multiple institutions including Montana State University, University of Maryland, Argonne National Laboratory, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Army Research Laboratory, NIST, University of Texas at Austin, and Stony Brook University.

Duties and Responsibilities
The postdoctoral researcher will develop high efficiency and high power density chargers for lithium-ion batteries that enable implementation of different fast charging protocols for the batteries while having low volume, weight, and cost.

The postdoctoral researcher will also supervise graduate students, write project reports, present research work to sponsors, and disseminate research results through journal publications.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Ph. D in Electrical Engineering.
A publication record in power electronics.
Experience in development of high efficiency high power density power electronic converters.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Experience in soft switching technology.
Experience in wide-bandgap semiconductor devices.

The Successful Candidate Will
Be an independent researcher, dutiful in fulfilling the project goals as well as spending time on their own scientific projects. The successful candidate will be extremely competent in development of high efficiency and high power density power electronic converters, a productive researcher (demonstrating the skills to generate publishable research twice per year), and a safe and organized laboratory user. The successful candidate will be an effective team player, good communicator (in writing and presenting scientific talks), and a role model in terms of ethical behavior for the graduate students in the project.
