Full Job Description

The Boston University Center for Antiracist Research (“the Center”) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that convenes researchers and practitioners to find novel and practical ways to understand, explain, and solve seemingly intractable problems of racial inequity.

The mission of the Center’s Policy Office is to translate the Center’s work into tangible policy outcomes. We challenge racist policies and promote antiracist policies through several key initiatives, including our Model Legislation Project, Amicus Brief Project, Evidence Equity Project, and Racial Policy Tracker (RPT). This position would specifically support one of our RPT projects, focusing on youth justice in Massachusetts.


Required Skills


We seek a Postdoctoral Associate to develop and execute a plan for one of the Center's Racial Policy Tracker projects, focusing on youth justice in Massachusetts. The RPT will track racist policies as well as proposed solutions, and will incorporate: narratives from directly impacted people, data analyses/visualizations, and a policy product (such as model legislation, toolkit, white paper, report, briefing, etc. The Postdoctoral Associate will help develop and execute a research plan for this RPT.

Required Skills

  • Doctoral degree in public policy or another social science discipline
  • 1-3 years of experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to antiracism and interest in antiracist policymaking;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Ability to collaborate with scholars from a variety of disciplines;
  • Ability to track and adhere to multiple deadlines;
  • Willingness to think creatively about how to achieve both the short and long term goals of a project.
