The Communications and Faculty Affairs Assistant Director serves a significant role at the Nanovic Institute, directing the communications team and serving as the Institute’s primary liaison with faculty at Notre Dame, including our community of faculty fellows. In overseeing Nanovic communications, the position will be responsible for leading an effective communications team, including executing and advancing Institute communications and shaping the strategic communications vision in conversation with leadership. Oversight of the Institute’s engagement with faculty includes developing and maintaining faculty relationships across the University, recruiting faculty for service opportunities, and overseeing significant faculty grant programs. The position will also be responsive to variable special needs and projects of the Institute. The position reports to the Associate Director.

The position will require a deep knowledge of communications, particularly content creation (writing/editing, print media, and digital media including web, video, social media, and other platforms). The position will also collaborate with the Dean’s Office communications team and serve as an Institute representative on the Keough School’s communicators committee.

Faculty Contact and Grant Administrator. Oversee and answer questions about grant programs for Notre Dame faculty. Administer the faculty grant portal, prepare applications for review by the faculty grant committee, communicate decisions, collect reports, and handle all related matters. Manage relationships with the community of faculty fellows; meet with faculty, in particular new fellows, to discuss Institute programs, and recruit faculty for service opportunities. Assist with re/appointment processes for faculty fellows.

Special Projects. Handle special projects as assigned by the Director or the Associate Director. This might include the editing of journals and oversight of the coordination of online or in-person events (such as flash panels). These projects will vary.

Teamwork. Participate in Institute and leadership team meetings, and assist other Nanovic Institute staff members as needed. Collaborate with colleagues in the Keough School of Global Affairs as appropriate.
