Position Summary

 

Outstanding candidates interested in pursuing an academic career in medical physics are sought for a Postdoctoral Research position in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Washington University School of Medicine. In this up to 24-month position, the postdoc will benefit from a vast array of resources and exceptional training in a top-ranked clinical environment. The primary focus of the research is to conduct MRI-guided radiotherapy projects including adaptive radiotherapy and MRI. The postdoc will participate in MRI acquisition and processing, and in radiotherapy planning. In addition, the postdoc will be involved in IT application development using MATLAB or C++.

 

The Department of Radiation Oncology at Washington University provides a full range of clinical services including IMRT, image-guided brachytherapy, cone-beam CT guided radiation therapy, MR-guided radiation therapy, on-line portal imaging, high-intensity focused ultrasound, proton and stereotactic radiosurgery.�Research programs include�automated health IT system, proton therapy, image guided adaptive radiotherapy, functional imaging with MRI and a wide range of molecular biology translational studies.�The Molecular Imaging Center includes PET, microPET and 3T MRI imaging facilities, a cyclotron, and a wide range of research activities.�The Division of Medical Physics, led by director Dr. Geoffery Hugo, includes 40 faculty and CAMPEP-accredited medical physics certificate and master program.�Postdocs are welcome to take courses of the education programs needed to become competitive residency program applicants.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in medical physics, physics, or engineering.
  • Experience in academic research and manuscript preparation.
  • Skills�in engineering mathematics and scientific programming using MATLAB or C++.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

Experience of radiotherapy and/or MRI.

 

Working Conditions

 

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.�The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

 

Salary Range

 

Base pay is commensurate with experience.
