What we want

The Texas A&M Institute of Data Science (TAMIDS) is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate for the Digital Twin Lab (DTL). The DTL aims to develop innovative visualization, computing and networking technologies and efficient theory/data-driven modeling methods to speed up the creation and deployment of digital twins for a wide spectrum of real-world applications. The lab will also actively develop and engage in education and training programs to teach and promote digital twin technologies at Texas A&M University and beyond. The successful candidate will work on the theory/data-driven modeling methods, specifically, develop Reduced Order Modeling (ROM) methods and apply them to various real-world applications in disciplines affiliated with TAMIDS. The preferred candidate will have a strong academic or industrial background in machine learning and scientific computing areas. Having experience in foundational disciplines in engineering and science is a plus. We seek to hire a team player who will promote collaboration and cooperation while working within a team. Required Education and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in computational sciences, computer science, informatics, or related areas in data science

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated expertise in computational sciences and numerical modeling

  • Demonstrated expertise in machine learning methods and foundations

  • Strong programming skills, including the use of Python/ TensorFlow / PyTorch

  • Experience using high-performance computing systems

  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams

  • Good communication skills

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with numerical modeling, scientific computing, and/or applications of data analysis

  • Prior experience with grant writing

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to cultivate and maintain professional working relationships with people of diverse backgrounds

Responsibilities:

  • Research - Performs original high-quality research within the multidisciplinary collaborative groups in the Digital Twin Lab. Applies methods of numerical modeling and data science to problems in scientific and engineering research. Works collaboratively with members of the lab on research activities and pilot programs. Produces publications, conference papers, and other research outputs, and writes grant proposals. Promotes the research associated with the Digital Twin Lab by developing and delivering talks and short courses.

  • Lab Community Engagements - Develops software packages to implement lab research results and provide consultation on usage. Assists with the organization of community-building activities and assists with the day-to-day operations of the lab. Assists with mentoring research students in group and/or interdisciplinary student team projects. Performs other duties as assigned
