Postdoctoral Fellow Position

Postdoctoral fellow positions are available in the Guo lab in the Department of Genetics and Genome Sciences at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, CT, USA.

The role of the postdoc will be to study the mitochondrial stress response in mammalian cells. The Guo lab uses cultured human cells to investigate how our cells respond to mitochondrial dysfunction. The Guo lab employs CRISPR-based (both loss of function and gain of function) functional genomics to identify novel mechanisms of stress response in human cells (Nature, 579, pages 427–432).

The candidate should have an interest in stress response, organelle biology and signaling pathways. Priority will be given to candidates with demonstrated research excellence and capability of implementing innovative approaches. The ideal candidate should have expertise in techniques used in molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology. Experience working with mammalian cell culture preferred, but not required. Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant field.

The position is for 12 months initially, and renewable depending on performance. The successful candidate will receive training in professional and personal development, research collaboration, presentation and publication of results, outreach, and mentoring. There will be opportunities for development of additional research projects and proposal development related to the broader project goals.
