The Center for Culture, Society and Religion at Princeton University invites applications for one postdoctoral research associate or more senior research position in the field of Buddhist philosophy in the South Asian cultural sphere. The appointment is for a one-year term to begin on September 1, 2023, and may be renewed for a second year pending satisfactory performance and available funding. Candidate must be a recent Ph.D. with demonstrated ability to translate and explicate premodern Buddhist philosophical works composed in Sanskrit, Tibetan, or other relevant language(s). Preference will be given to candidates who are actively engaged in philosophical translations and those who study Buddhist thought in conversation with its non-Buddhist South Asian interlocutors. In addition to pursuing independent research, the fellow will participate in the Center's weekly interdisciplinary workshop and oversee a reading group in Buddhist philosophy.
