Job Description:

The Dean of the Richard J. Bolte, Sr. School of Business (BSB) will provide strategic leadership to achieve the University and BSB's strategic goals. He/she will develop the School's academic reputation, provide an outstanding student experience, and ensure an affirming environment for faculty and staff development. The BSB Dean serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the Business School, reporting directly to the Provost and Vice president for Academic Affairs.

 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
The Dean supports, supervises, and evaluates all full-time and adjunct faculty and staff in the
Richard J. Bolte, Sr. School of Business. As a member of the Provost's senior leadership team providing university-wide leadership, the Dean works effectively within a shared governance model with other University leaders, including the other school Deans, faculty, and members of the President's cabinet. In addition, the BSB Dean should work closely with key stakeholders to develop focused and long-lasting external relationships that support the growth of the School and University goals and objectives.
 
Qualifications
  • Proven record of successful leadership in a business school
    • Oversee curricular development and lead assessment efforts to ensure the high quality of student learning and the relevance and rigor of the curriculum.
    • Champion Bolte School programs and initiatives and provide leadership for a strategic shared vision for the School's internal and external constituents.
    • Build strong connections with the regional business community.
    • Oversee the budget, do fundraising, and develop effective alumni relations.
    • Lead consistent with a commitment to shared governance, earning the trust of faculty, students, staff, and administration in working toward Bolte School and institutional goals.
 
  • Ability to grow enrollment in BSB graduate programs and among traditional and adult undergraduate learners
    • Grow online and hybrid offerings to ensure broad reach.
    • Develop a portfolio of programs that are attractive to a wide range of students.
    • Support University recruiting efforts and develop Bolte school-specific retention initiatives as needed.
 
  • Commitment to sustain and grow the academic reputation of the BSB faculty and programs
    • Attract, develop, and retain faculty who are active in research and scholarship, and engaged in their disciplines to ensure that the School has a strong academic base and reputation.
    • Grow the research and scholarship framework to ensure that teaching is informed by current research.
    • Develop and maintain high standards of engagement in the profession.
    • Ensure that teaching is recognized as excellent and the portfolio of programs is both relevant and attractive to students and other stakeholders.
    • Gather regular feedback and focus on continuous improvement, creating opportunities for innovation, collaboration, and service.
    • Promote an entrepreneurial culture.
 
  • Interpersonal skills that enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    • Foster teamwork and consensus among faculty, staff, and administrators.
    • Foster an inclusive culture to ensure that faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds, countries, and cultures feel welcome and supported and that they experience belonging.
 
Minimum Requirements
  • Terminal degree in a business-related discipline.
    • Candidates with a master’s degree in a business-related discipline will also be considered.
  • Combination of academic and industry leadership is preferred.
  • Strong record in higher education of teaching and scholarship consistent with the rank of associate or full professor.
  • Five years of experience in academic leadership that includes experience with some of the following responsibilities: personnel management, fundraising, program development, managing budgets, diversity initiatives, enrollment management, and sustainability.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse educational environment and an ability to work with a diverse student and faculty population.
  • Commitment to the Catholic mission of the Mount.

This is a full-time position with full benefits and annual, holiday and sick leave.
