College of Southern Idaho (CSI) is a public two-year institution that serves a diverse population. CSI is seeking applications for a full-time, 9-month Information Technology Instructor position. The Information Technology instructor will be part of a motivated and innovative instructional team dedicated to student success and industry responsiveness.

Timeline: For best consideration, applicants should submit all supporting materials by March 1, 2023. The successful candidate will begin employment August 1, 2023.

Applicants should be able to teach a variety of courses in Information Technology; including programming and security. The successful applicant will possess or be able to secure an Idaho Career Technical Education teaching credential.  

 The successful candidate will facilitate the learning process by designing and implementing appropriate, meaningful, and equitable instructional activities, while evaluating student learning by creating and applying well-designed assessment tools. This will be accomplished through curriculum development, program review, mentoring of students, and in collaboration with community and industry for successful placement into the workforce. The successful candidate should have a strong desire to cultivate a sense of belonging for learners.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach a full semester credit load of courses in accordance with the descriptions published in the CSI catalog.
  • Devote a minimum of 37.5 hours per week to the institution, maintain appropriate office hours as determined by college policy.
  • Meet all scheduled classes promptly with any deviation being filed promptly and accurately through the appropriate channels
  • Recruit and advise students
  • Monitor student progress and retention
  • Develop an annual plan for personal development
  • Assist with annual plan for unit (program) development and budget
  • Implement course-level and program-level outcomes assessment strategies
  • Participate in biannual, industry-specific advisory committee
  • Develop and cultivate positive interaction with local industry
  • Review internship, cooperative education, and other work-based learning sites
  • Engage in activities to stay current in the discipline
  • Participate in activities or organization to promote professional development.
  • Participate in campus committees, faculty senate, and department meetings and activities.
  • Setup, and maintain lab classroom equipment
  • Must currently hold, or be prepared to obtain necessary industry and Idaho State CTE certification or licensure
  • Continuously review and update curriculum and instructional technology with department chair.
  • Participate in all graduation

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

  • 3 years of experience working in the IT industry (including supervisory experience)
  • College degree in related field preferred
  • Industry specific certifications preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to monitor and adhere to budgets and complete paperwork in an efficient manner
  • Organizational skills

  • Ability to foster respectful, meaningful relationships with students, colleagues, administration, and industry

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Must possess current Idaho driver’s license to travel to professional development events, for recruitment purposes, for field trips, and to visit cooperative training sites. Successful applicant will work directly with program students in classroom, laboratory, and supervised work experience environments. Use of program specific equipment and hand tools will be necessary and lifting (up to 50 lbs.) will be necessary at times.

Maintain classroom, classroom equipment, and/or lab equipment, and independent computer network as needed.

Minimum Salary: $44,000 (9-month contract)
