- Administrator: Director of Prospect Management & Research
- Preferred Experience: Experience in prospect management, prospect research, and data analysis. Knowledge of public sources/methods for gathering, compiling, and reporting research. An understanding of philanthropy & fundraising methods and data management.
- Education Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities to keep up with industry trends.
- Full Time Equivalent: 1.0 FTE; eligible for benefits
- Work Status: in office position in Bozeman, MT with opportunities for hybrid after first 3 months
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Associate Director of Prospect Research (Associate Director) of the Montana State University Alumni Foundation (Alumni Foundation) is an integral part of a dedicated team assigned to a group of frontline fundraisers working collectively to support Montana State University's (MSU) philanthropic goals and mission. This position reports to the Director of Prospect Management & Research and works closely with the Vice President for Development and the broader Development Team.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
- Conduct research on existing and emerging constituents by reviewing, compiling, and analyzing biographical, financial, professional, philanthropic, MSU relationship/affinity, and capacity to generate information on individuals, corporations, and foundations.
- Support proactive portfolio management efforts and data analytics by fulfilling targeted requests including regional pipeline development projects and analysis.
- Participate collaboratively and proactively with members of the Alumni Foundation organization to identify overall improvement areas and refinements to best practices to ensure accurate entry, storage, and retrieval of appropriate data.
- Adhere to the confidentiality, security, and integrity standards of Alumni Foundation's policies and procedures along with the ethical guidelines set forth in the Association of Prospect Researchers for Advancement Ethics Statement.
- Affect and maintain a professional, proactive, positive, highly collaborative, and performance-centric work environment.
- Other duties, as assigned by the Director of Prospect Management & Research (duties and responsibilities may change at any time).
SPECIAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in prospect research, data analysis and moves management (higher education setting preferred).
- Ability to organize data from a variety of sources and communicate that data effectively and clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Proven record of achievement in development research, fundraising programs, and information services.
- Must be able to write concise research documents with attention to accuracy and detail.
- Must be able to work well under the pressure of deadlines, be able to handle several projects simultaneously, and be able to shift priorities if needed.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize a high volume of information. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and experience in distilling large datasets into actionable strategies and recommendations.
- Working knowledge of the principles and practices of philanthropy.
- Understanding of information management in a database structure, particularly the ability to enter, manipulate and retrieve data.
- Demonstrated strong computer experience required, including database knowledge (Raiser's Edge, Lexis-Nexis, iWave experience preferred), internet search skills, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
