Do you have a curiosity for developing novel test approaches for autonomous maritime robotic systems?

Do you have a passion for understanding machine learning, artificial intelligence, and human machine teaming algorithms?

Do you have an interest in performing cutting edge research to evaluate the performance of uncrewed maritime systems?

Do you thrive in a dynamic and collaborative environment?

If so, we are looking for someone like you to join our team at APL! We are seeking a Software Engineer to help us develop sophisticated test and evaluation software for the Navy's next generation autonomous platforms. • Design, develop, and configure simulation environments used to test and evaluate autonomy algorithms and autonomous and robotic systems.
  • Apply the fields of data science, statistics, and machine learning to develop novel methods of verifying complex decision-making systems.
  • Plan, execute, and analyze field tests and experiments.
  • Define architecture for, implement, integrate, and test software/hardware in operationally-realistic environments.
  • Prepare for and participate in product design reviews, as well as, technical reports and other briefing materials for presentation to all levels of APL, government, and industry staff.

Qualifications

You will meet our minimum qualification for the job if you...

All staff members must provide proof of full vaccination or have an approved medical or religious accommodation by their start date.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have experience with developing simulation-based tests and evaluation tools.
  • Have experience developing in a modern software development environment (Agile, Kanban, etc.) that includes automated testing, continuous integration and deployment, and "DevSecOps" environments.
