Basic Function

Under the direction of the Director, Contract Management and Vendor Services, receive, inspect, store, issue and deliver materials, supplies and equipment for the District.

Representative Duties

Receive and store materials, equipment and supplies; prepare storage space; unload, count, number, tag and shelve incoming materials. E 
 
Inspect incoming stock for conformance with purchase orders; note and report unacceptable deliveries, such as shortages, damages and other discrepancies. E 
 
Prepare items for delivery; deliver and pick up various items including equipment, furniture, laundry and supplies; load and unload delivery vehicles. E 
 
Perform a variety of warehousing functions including filling requisitions, stocking, shelving and checking materials and supplies. E 
 
Maintain a perpetual inventory and appropriate stock levels; supervise and participate in semi-annual inventory. E 
 
Maintain adequate stock of supplies and materials; prepare requisitions and order supplies and materials as necessary. E 
 
Maintain bins, shelves and storage areas in clean, safe and orderly condition; assure compliance with fire prevention and pest control standards. E 
 
Participate in the sale of surplus property; store and receive monies from sale; distribute monies and receipt of accounting. E 
 
Prepare andmaintain various records and reports related to warehouse operations and inventory. E 
 
Operate a variety of equipment and machines including forklifts, electric carts, pallet jacks, calculators and copiers. E 
 
Train and provide work direction to student assistants as assigned. 
 
Perform related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Abilities

 Knowledge of:
  • Methods, equipment and materials used in the receipt, storage, control, inventory and distribution of stock and materials. 
  • Equipment, materials and supplies used in a community college district. 
  • Operation of warehouse equipment and delivery vehicles. 
  • Inventory procedures and techniques. 
  • Safety and security procedures and practices. 
  • Proper methods of loading and unloading delivery vehicles. 
  • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. 
  • Record-keeping techniques. 
 
 Ability to:
  • Perform a variety of warehousing duties including filling requisitions, stocking, shelving and checking materials and supplies. 
  • Operate a variety of warehouse and delivery equipment, machines and vehicles. 
  • Maintain a perpetual inventory and appropriate stock levels. 
  • Perform heavy manual labor. 
  • Lift objects weighing up to 75 pounds. 
  • Maintain records and prepare reports. 
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions. 
  • Train and provide work direction to others. 
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

Education and Experience

Any combination equivalent to: sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above preferably including two years of warehouse or stock clerk experience.

Foreign Degrees

Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an Evaluation Service prior to the closing date. Certification must be attached with copies of transcripts.

License Certificates/Credentials

Must possess a valid California driver’s license and be able to be insured to drive College District vehicles.

Working Conditions

Warehouse environment; work involves physical exertion; subject to heavy lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling.

Position Description
