If you’re pursuing a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or other related discipline and want to gain experience in a variety of technological innovations, we’d love to have you join our team!

 

We are seeking an Aerospace Engineer, Software Engineer or Data Scientist intern to leverage their computational/analytical skills supporting multi-disciplinary teams on a variety of technological innovations to create analysis and assessment approaches for many defense and national security applications. You will be joining our diverse team of hardworking engineers, software developers, data scientists, and analysts committed to advancing the state of the art in performance evaluation of the nation’s strategic weapons systems throughout their lifecycle. As a member of our team you will…

    • Work closely with other developers and systems engineers to understand system needs and develop overall solutions that will meet these needs supporting the United States Space Force
    • Develop models and simulations to describe data, predict events, and prescribe a course of action that directly reflects stakeholder’s needs across a variety of domains
    • Perform software implementation of proof-of-concept prototypes incorporating several engineering fields: graphical user interfaces and visualization.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Are pursuing a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or other related discipline.
  • Have a strong desire to learn and explore new software development technologies.
  • Possess strong analytical, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. To ensure the safety and well-being of the community, APL has established a policy requiring that all staff be vaccinated against COVID-19. All staff members must provide proof of full vaccination or have an approved medical or religious accommodation by their start date.
  • Are able to obtain Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a final Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You will go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have experience or knowledge of higher level programming languages (e.g. Python, C++, Java) and analysis tools (MATLAB).
  • Have experience with statistical analysis methodologies and design of experiments.
  • Agile and scrum software development principles.
  • Software project and configuration management tools to perform issue tracking, automated unit testing, continuous integration / DevOps (such as GitLab, TeamCity, Jenkins), and version control tools (e.g. Git).
