Postdoctoral Research Associate:
Old Dominion University’s Center for Coastal Physical Oceanography (CCPO) is seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in the field of in Oceanography. This Post Doc will participate in a National Science Foundation Ecology and Evolution of Infectious Diseases (EEID) funded project that focuses on understanding controls on Eelgrass wasting disease. The project includes experimental, field and modeling components coordinated by Dr. Drew Harvell, Dr. Maya Groner, Dr. Colleen Burge, and Dr. Eileen Hofmann. This collaborative project translates laboratory and field-based studies via numerical models to advance understanding of Eelgrass wasting disease. This Postdoctoral Research position focuses on numerical modeling of disease processes and transmission to support project collaboration and integration.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in marine ecology or a related discipline and must have experience with computer systems, a scientific programming language (MATLAB, R, FORTRAN), and scientific writing. Familiarity with marine ecosystem dynamics, marine disease processes, and numerical modeling is desirable. The successful candidate is expected to prepare research results for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals, make project presentations at national and international scientific meetings, and attend project-related meetings and workshops.

Job Responsibilities: Duties:
Develop computer codes and implement eelgrass model; analyze simulations.

Prepare and submit manuscripts on eelgrass, model results for submission to peer-reviewed journals.

Submit abstracts, attend professional meetings and conferences to present eelgrass model results.

Attend and participate in project meetings and activities.

Other duties as assigned.
