If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL.

 

We are seeking a Procurement Specialist to help us with making critical purchases that support the Force Projection Sector's (FPS) diverse portfolio of projects. You 'll be joining a hardworking team that strives to provide timely, reliable and valuable procurement and business operations support and expertise to our customers. As a member of our team, you will collaborate with internal and external customers and play an active role in the overall procurement support and operational efficiency of our project portfolios.

 

As a Procurement Specialist...

  • Your primary responsibility will be to work with Sector requesters to facilitate the full lifecycle of the procurement process, from gathering initial purchase requirements, to processing the procurement request either by completing a Purchase Requisition or making the purchase on a Procurement (P-card), to tracking the purchase through receipt and payment. As part of this responsibility, you will review Letters of Justification (LOJ), Statements of Work (SOW), vendor quotes and other necessary documentation to ensure compliance with Lab guidance/policies. In addition, you will proactively partner with the Lab's central Procurement Group to expedite purchase requests as necessary.
  • You will maintain detailed logs of purchase transactions and track purchase requisitions through the entire procurement lifecycle.
  • You will proactively provide regular status updates on purchases to end users and key stakeholders.
  • You will partner with the Lab's central Procurement Group to provide regular training to FPS P-card holders on updates to the Lab's policies and best practices.
  • You will support special projects relating to procurement, business operations and financial administration as necessary.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have at least 7+ years of administrative experience
  • Have experience with procurement-related functions, such as processing purchase requests and/or employee reimbursements
  • Are a highly detail-oriented person with superior organizational skills
  • Can effectively work in a fast paced/high volume environment
  • Have a proven track record working on complex projects with the ability to effectively prioritize work and can easily and quickly adapt to changing priorities
  • Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills with a customer-centric focus
  • Have the ability to prioritize tasks, adjust quickly to changing priorities and the ability to accommodate time critical tasking
  • Are proficient in the MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.   • Have an Associates Degree in a financial or business-related field
  • Are familiar with or have prior experience in a government contracting environment
