ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, MS IN REAL ESTATE

Job Description

The Department of Real Estate and Urban Land Economics at the Wisconsin School of Business mentors and develops real estate MS, MBA, and BBA students as future leaders in the commercial real estate industry. This position reports to the Department Chair. The position holder will help develop, lead and support initiatives to develop and advance a path in Sustainable Development/Affordable Housing (SAH), including program administration, and support for student services, employer/career development, and recruiting and admissions. Other responsibilities include assisting with student enrollment and development through overseeing co-curricular activities, including field trips and development tours; connecting the students with and engaging the Graaskamp Center advisory board and alumni; and providing support in the admissions, enrollment, placement, and mentoring of graduate students. The Associate Director of Sustainable Development/Affordable Housing will partner with numerous internal and external constituents.


Responsibilities:
Manages the administrative activities of graduate degree program(s) and/or certificate(s). Performs activities which may include: recruitment, admissions, new student orientation, academic advising, monitoring of progress towards the degree, course and/or enrollment management, diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, funding, course and/or program assessment, and academic program review. May oversee staff and/or graduate program functions.
  • 25% Serves as the expert resource for applicants, current students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders of an academic program
  • 20% Manages the response, support, and advocacy for graduate students while continuously improving the student experience and overall graduate program
  • 15% Oversees programming, services, and events to promote professional development and academic success
  • 15% Provides comprehensive advising services promoting graduate student success, retention, and degree completion. Advises on programs, graduate education, and university policies, processes, and procedures. Monitors degree progress and assists students in navigating resources and systems throughout the student lifecycle from matriculation to degree completion
  • 10% Manages graduate student funding including, but not limited to, fellowships, scholarships, training grants, or assistantships from department, university, and/or outside sponsors. May prepare and/or submit funding proposals
  • 10% Maintains compliance with graduate program(s), school/college, and university requirements and technology systems related to admissions, assessment, academic degree progress/requirements, and program review. Makes policy and procedure recommendations and/or changes
  • 5% Oversees staff and/or graduate program functions

Education:

Required
MS, MBA, JD, or equivalent


Qualifications:
Required:
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in business and/or higher education.

Preferred:
  • A minimum of two years of working in the field of real estate with an emphasis on sustainable development, and affordable housing (SAH)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Display a high level of professionalism
  • Committed to supporting student initiatives
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, presentation, and time management skills
  • Familiar with sustainable development, and affordable housing; the real estate industry, and university administration.

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $75,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
