The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking a Part-Time Counselor, DSPS for Las Positas College.  Provides comprehensive academic, career, transfer, and disability-related counseling services. 

Duties and Responsibilities: Duties and Responsibilities: 

1. Providing counseling to students, which includes the development student educational plans based on certificate, associate degree, transfer, and career goals. Provide holistic academic, career, transfer and personal counseling, and referrals to appropriate resources.  Communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
2. Develop Academic Accommodation Plans (AAP) for students as appropriate.  Assist students with the decision-making process and exploration of alternatives in regards to college adjustment, personal growth and development, social adjustments and goals.
3. Demonstrate an understanding of, sensitivity to, and appreciation for the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.    

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling
OR
Master’s degree in counseling, guidance counseling, student personnel, clinical or counseling psychology, education counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, marriage, family and child counseling, or a Bachelor’s degree in marriage and family and child counseling and possession of a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT); and either 15 or more semester units in upper division or graduate level course work related to people with disabilities, or completion of six semester units, or the equivalent of a graduate-level counseling practicum or counseling field work courses, in a post-secondary Disabled Students Programs and Services program or in a program dealing with people with disabilities, or two years of fulltime experience, or the equivalent, in one or more of the following:

(A) Counseling for students with disabilities; or(A) Counseling for students with disabilities; or
(B) Counseling in industry, government, public agencies, military or private social welfare organizations in which the responsibilities are for persons with disabilities, or the equivalent.
Evidence of understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices within the classroom.

Desirable Qualifications

1. One (1) year of community college experience.
2. 2. Working knowledge of Title V and other governmental regulations as they apply to students with disabilities.
