POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for preparing and delivering quality instruction on topics in Communications in an equitable environment at our Southeast Campus.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/ JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach courses via on-ground, online, hybrid or web-enhanced delivery modes as assigned. Teaching will take place primarily at the Southeast Campus with possible assignments at other campuses and sites where NSCC instruction takes place. Within a minimum workweek of 37.5 hours, faculty are expected to teach a minimum of 15 hours and hold in person and virtual office hours as defined in College Policy. Work with course leads and/or program coordinators to ensure consistent and equitable student experiences.

Utilize the college’s learning management system to provide course materials to students. Submit updated department syllabi prior to the first day of class. Regularly check NSCC email and departmental mailbox. Respond to emails/messages within 48 hours except on the weekend. Complete all required reports such as attendance, Early Alerts, progress reports, grade submissions; administer and return surveys and student outcome assessments by the required deadlines. Submit final grades for each semester by the deadline established by the registrar. Provide academic advising to students with an emphasis on retention and success. Remain current in the teaching area(s) through appropriate professional development activities. Actively participate on divisional and institutional committees. Collaborate in building and maintaining relationships within and beyond the institution.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in Communication Studies or a master’s degree and at least 18 graduate semester hours in Communication Studies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
College-level teaching experience.
Demonstrated commitment to equity and accessibility.
Ability to teach a wide range of Communication courses from introductory to advanced.
Demonstrated experience teaching Communication courses in a variety of modalities including in-person, hybrid, virtual and asynchronously online.
Demonstrated experience incorporating current technologies into teaching.
Demonstrated understanding of the community college mission and needs of student populations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Rate of Pay:  $40,000 to $45,200, depending on experience
