SALARY:
This is a two quarter lecturer faculty position (Jan. 9-June 16, 2023). Initial annual salary placement ranges from $37,757.72 - $43,116.15, which is pro-rated based on current faculty contract for the two quarter contract. The College has a negotiated faculty wage scale. Placement on the salary scale in accordance with the HC-Highline College Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Essential Tasks
Teaching: Teach a variety of chemistry courses, including introductory, general, and/or organic chemistry, with an emphasis on teaching the general chemistry series. (Requires using online course management technology, includes day/ possibly evening and weekend, on-line, hybrid, and off-campus sections); advise students in developing and monitoring their academic plans.

Service: Engage in department, division, and college initiatives; participate in shared governance; promote the college’s values, and perform other contracted duties (for example, advisory committee participation, community outreach) as required.

Professional development: Maintain competence in teaching and the discipline through professional development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in chemistry from an institution with regional accreditation or its international equivalent. Pending degrees must be verified by a letter from the granting institution validating that the degree will be completed prior to January 2023.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Higher Education teaching experience in general chemistry as identified under responsibilities;
• Background in analytical, physical, or inorganic chemistry;
• Demonstrated interest in working with student cohorts (TRiO, MESA, UMOJA, etc.) at the pre-college and college levels;
• Proficient in a language(s) in addition to English
