The School of English and Languages has an international research and teaching portfolio in English Literature and Creative Writing, Linguistics, Translation and Interpreting Studies, Modern Languages, Film and Intercultural Communication. We seek to appoint a Lecturer A in Medieval English Literature (teaching focused; 12 months fixed-term at 0.6) to provide maternity leave cover from February 2023-February 2024. The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, undertake pastoral care of personal tutees, supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations, and engage in associated administrative responsibilities. The appointee will join a dynamic and innovative subject team, with strong teaching and research specialisms in medieval and early modern literature.

The post holder will be expected to teach the following undergraduate and postgraduate modules: History of English Literature 1, The Age of Chivalry (at UG and PG levels), and Children’s Literature, and may be asked to contribute to teaching in literary theory, as well as supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations within and beyond their specialism.
