If you are pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physics, Engineering, Materials Science, or a related major and want to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment where we apply engineering explore the cosmos, we'd love to have you join our team! We are seeking an intern to join our Space Environments Engineering Group who is able to perform experiments, simulation, and analysis that will make sure that Civil and National Security Space missions survive their long, cold journeys through space.

 

As a member of our team your primary responsibility will be contributing to the development and assessment of space systems. Your daily work will consist of teaming with world-class experts to evaluate the next generation of space exploration, finding opportunities for improvement, and proposing and developing innovative ideas to improve capabilities for potential future systems' performance.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Are pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, Material Science, or similar degrees and have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

  • Have a passion for finding new ways to look at old problems.

  • To access APL’s facilities and networks, US Citizenship status is required, subject to applicable laws.
  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. You will go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you… 

  • Have experience in MATLAB (or another high level language)

  • Have experience with radiation or other environment-related software codes including, but not limited to MCNP, COMSOL, and FastRad.

  • Have experience developing intricate experiments and the hardware and/or software associated with them.
