Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The School of Education is an academic unit reporting to the Provost. The School is a major center of research, teaching, and public service within the State of North Carolina, the nation, and the world. The School offers a full range of undergraduate and graduate programs. The mission of the School of Education is to conduct research, and generate basic and applied knowledge about human development, educational technology and entrepreneurship, teaching and learning, school counseling, school psychology, administration, as well as educational policy and leadership; prepare leaders in the profession of education by conducting outstanding research, teaching, and service; and assist in the development of strong and effective public schools in North Carolina. In order to fulfill its mission, the School is organized into three academic divisions: (1) Culture, Curriculum, & Teacher Education (CCATE), (2) Learning, Development & Psychological Sciences (LDPS), and (3) Educational Policy, Organization, & Leadership (EPOL).
Position Summary
This position is responsible for management, modeling, feature engineering, and analysis of digital trace data from student behaviors with LMS and students’ verbal utterances, as relevant to answer established research questions. It is also responsible for disseminating findings from this work through (1+) presentations at each conference attended, and through published manuscripts documenting results of studies addressing research questions.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
PhD in educational psychology, quantitative psychology, statistics, data science, information science, or similar field.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
General qualifications.
Demonstrated experience in the management and modeling of digital trace data and application of descriptive, data driven and inferential analyses.
Specific qualifications.
Expertise at the intersection of computer and information science and educational psychology, sufficient to lead learning analytics research.
Demonstrable record of research using methodological and analytical tools to examine the validity of the inferences about students’ SRL skills as exhibited during STEM learning coursework (e.g. learning tasks housed on learning management systems (LMSs)). 
Management of multimodal data sufficient to temporally align and examine convergence of 2+ measures to validate inferences about digital event data.
