Summary of Job Duties:

A Post-Doctoral Fellow position is available in the cancer epigenetics laboratory directed by Samrat Roy Choudhury, Ph.D. at the Arkansas Children’s Research Institute, a renowned multidisciplinary research institute in Arkansas. Candidates will be affiliated with the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. The laboratory focuses on determining the epigenetic regulatory mechanisms in both the pediatric and adult courses of acute myeloid leukemia. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will work as part of an interdisciplinary and translational team, with access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources to carry out both clinical and basic science studies. Using a wide range of established animal models and cell lines, we aim to understand how alteration in chromatin modifications regulates the assembly of transcription factors and thereby controls gene expression and leukemogenesis.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related field required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must work closely with various laboratory animal specimens.

  • Experience in various molecular biology techniques (i.e., DNA/RNA work, PCR, qPCR, Western blot), in addition to experience in mammalian cell culture and mouse models.

  • Ability to move up to 25 pounds.

  • Candidates with experience in cancer biology or epigenetics are preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory-based research in this area including the design, implementation, analysis, and interpretation of laboratory experiments.
  • Publish data in top scientific journals and assist the supervisor in grant preparation.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.
