Medical Laboratory Technology Program, Adjunct Faculty

Class Description

Under the supervision of the Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) Program Director, the Adjunct Instructor is responsible for teaching the lecture and/or lab sections of the MLTC 200 Clinical Chemistry & MLTC 202 Urinalysis/Body Fluids.  The MLT 200 course is a four-credit class with 3 contact hours of lecture and 3 contact hours of lab each week.  The MLTC 202 course is a two-credit class with 1 contact hour of lecture and 3 contact hours of lab each week.  The Adjunct Instructor assures compliance with College policy, program policy, and accrediting agency procedures.

Pay Level Step 1 - $935 per credit hour.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field. ASCP Certification as Medical Technologist (preferred). Minimum of two years clinical experience, specifically in the field of clinical chemistry. Teaching experience with MLT or MT students preferred.   Applicants should be computer proficient and be willing to teach online courses.

Class Specific Essential Duties

  • Facilitate learning by preparing and delivering instruction for MLTC 200/MLT 202;
  • Cooperate with College support staff by timely submission of materials for duplication and grades;
  • Coordinate activities such as demonstrations, lab schedules, or practical exams
  • Assist the Program Director in identifying clinical competencies for MLT students, reflecting the knowledge and skills needed for successful completion of Board of Registry examinations and essential skills for entry-level positions;
  • Maintain appropriate records and assist with accreditation reports as part of ongoing program evaluation;
  • Assist the Program Director with development of a strategic plan for the program;
  • Participate in professional organizations to insure program excellence and appropriateness of the curriculum and instruction; and
  • Develop or revise and update materials as part of instructional effectiveness.

Other Possible Duties:

  • Participate in ongoing program review and the self-study process;
  • Assist the Program Director with curriculum planning and curriculum development;
  • Encouraged to participate in professional development through professional organizations and College activities;
  • Participate in faculty meetings as requested by the Program Director; and
  • Assist with the purchase of equipment and supplies as requested
