Spectroscopic Studies of Membrane Interactions and Amyloid Formation
Job Description
The Laboratory of Protein Conformation and Dynamics (LPCD) in the Biochemistry and Biophysics Center, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, NIH, Bethesda, MD, seeks highly motivated postdoctoral fellows to study protein misfolding and aggregation processes associated with human diseases, such as alpha-synuclein in Parkinson’s disease and TDP-43 in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. We take a broad and multidisciplinary approach to develop a mechanistic understanding of amyloid formation in a cellular environment. For an overview of LPCD, please visit https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/science/protein-conformation-and-dynamics
Qualifications:
Candidates must have a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree awarded within the past 2 years and a record of at least two first-author publications in peer-reviewed international journals. Strong background in protein folding, amyloid formation, membrane biophysics, and advanced spectroscopic and imaging techniques are highly desirable. Experience in cell biology, mass spectrometry, and standard biochemical analyses are also desirable.
To Apply:
Interested individuals should submit via email (leej4@nhlbi.nih.gov ) the following material:
- Letter of interest, including brief descriptions of research interests and career goals
- Statement of research accomplishments and expertise
- Curriculum vitae (CV), including names and contact information for 3 references
