Position Highlights

The School of Government and Public Policy at the University of Arizona has an opening for a Postdoctoral Research Associate beginning in Summer 2023. This project is funded by NSF’s Security & Preparedness Program and centers upon the collection of original data on concentration camps administered by governments globally between 1896 and 2018. This position will be funded for one twelve-month period, beginning on July 3, 2023. The position will be supervised by Dr. Alex Braithwaite. The postdoctoral researcher will work closely with Braithwaite in supervising a team of undergraduate researchers. Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities consist of:

  • Supporting the PI in development of data collection protocols
  • Supervising team of undergraduate researchers
  • Managing collected data
  • Analyzing data and preparing manuscripts
  • Being an active member of a team of social scientists
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have a PhD in political science, or in a related field, upon hire
  • Experience in empirical social science research and data collection
  • Experience with the study of human rights, repression, and/or conflict processes
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Experience in quantitative social science methods such as regression analysis
  • Experience with the study of concentration camps
