JOB SUMMARY 

The Rudd Center for Food Policy & Health at the University of Connecticut invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position beginning in the Spring semester or Summer of 2023. The mission of the Rudd Center is to promote solutions to food insecurity, poor diet quality, and weight bias through research and policy. This is a full-time, annually renewable position with a maximum duration of 2 years.

This Postdoctoral Research Associate will contribute to research on topics related to food policy and health, including early childhood nutrition, breastfeeding, food insecurity, charitable food, childhood obesity, and health equity under Drs. Tatiana Andreyeva and Marlene Schwartz.

Responsibilities include data collection, management and analysis, community engagement throughout the research process, literature reviews, manuscript writing, and contributing to the mission of the Rudd Center.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in public policy, agriculture economics, nutrition, public health, psychology, human development & family sciences, or a related field completed within the past 2 years.
  • Research experience in the areas of nutrition or health policy.
  • Excellent analytical and statistical skills.
  • Strong proficiency in using R, SAS, and/or STATA statistical software programs.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience conducting collaborative research. 
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidates whose research interests intersect with those of supervising faculty.
  • Experience collecting data in community settings.
  • Experience with the collection and analysis of medical health records and dietary data.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Spanish.
  • APPOINTMENT TERMS

    This is a full-time, 12-month annually renewable position based in Hartford, CT.
