Description
A post-doctoral research position in fish ecology and conservation is available in the Riverscape Ecology Laboratory (REL) in the Department of Ecology and Conservation Biology at Texas A&M University (TAMU). The position is funded by a National Science Foundation Dynamics of Integrated Socio-Environmental Systems collaboration and will focus on the ecosystem effects of fishes across the Red River Basin in the southern Great Plains of North America. The successful candidate will lead the development of (1) a geodatabase consisting of remotely sensed environmental data and fish assemblage survey data, (2) groundwater-surface water interactions, (3) multi-species distribution models, and (4) peer-reviewed publications on the topics. The REL participates in interdisciplinary research pertaining to aquatic ecology with multiple academic institutions and agencies and is affiliated with both the TAMU Ecology and Evolutionary Biology program and Applied Biodiversity Sciences program. Salary ranges from $45,000 to $55,000 plus benefits per year depending on experience and interests; funding is also available for travel to meet with collaborators and present at conferences. Qualifications
The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in biology, ecology, environmental sciences, or a related field. Candidates with experience in community ecology, geographic information systems, statistical analysis in R, and publication of peer-reviewed manuscripts are invited to apply. The position is available immediately with preferred start date in January 2023, though exceptional candidates beginning in May/August 2023 will be considered. The appointment is for two years (24 months) contingent upon review/renewal after year 1.
