Position Summary

This position requires the person assigned to supervise all fire safety requirements, monthly routine inspections, fire alarm maintenance, daily testing of fire alarms and maintains records and logs.

Essential Functions

  • Assists the Fire Life Safety Officer in all aspects pertaining to Fire Safety on all University campuses including the Calder Center.
  • Accompanies FDNY Bureau of Fire Prevention inspectors on any visits or inspections conducted.
  • Maintains current FDNY Certificates of Fitness, S-12 City Wide Sprinkler, and S-13 City Wide Standpipe Systems and other related systems.
  • Conducts daily fire alarm control panel tests and inspections on the Rose Hill campus.
  • Conducts monthly fire safety inspections of al buildings on the Rose Hill Campus including off campus Fordham Belmont Community Housing (Arthur #1, Arthur #2, Hughes Apartments and Terranova apartments).
  • Conducts mandated monthly inspections of water based fire suppression systems at all campuses which includes visual inspection of water supply, gravity and pressure tanks and levers there in.
  • Maintains accurate records of all Fire Safety related inspections and reports as required by law and to ensure that they are available for inspection by any department representative of the FDNY.
  • Assists and conducts fire safety drills and evacuations.
  • Coordinates and assists with Fire Safety related contractors and service technicians in an effort to expediate all necessary tests, repairs or inspections.
  • Coordinates and assists the FDNY personnel as directed by the Fire Life Safety Officer.
  • Coordinates and assists with Fordham University Facilities personnel to address any Fire Safety related issues on the Rose Hill Campus. Submits work orders to facilities operations to address specific fire safety and hazards.
  • Provides support services for Duty Supervisors and Patrol Leaders while conducting the above Fire Safety related duties.
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Director of Public Safety and the AVP for Public Safety.
  • Is required to work on all University campuses including the Calder Center.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • FDNY Certificate of Fitness S-12 (Citywide Sprinkler)
  • FDNY Certificate of Fitness S-13 (Citywide Standpipe)
  • NYS Licensed Armed Guard
  • Prior Law Enforcement or Fire Safety experience
  • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

Minimum Starting Salary: $60,000.00

Maximum Starting Salary: $75,400.00

Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
