Animal Care and Research Technician
Med-Surgery - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (22008893)
 

This position is for a Research III, Animal Care and Research Technician. The applicant will assist in major surgical procedures such as organ transplantation and open graft biopsies, and perform and assist with minor surgical procedures, such as lymph node excision and/or biopsies. Also, the incumbent will be responsible for the clinical management of the allograft recipient animals, including preparation for the transplant as well as the clinical monitoring after transplant. This will include performing and adjustment of immunosuppressive therapy administration. Also, the applicant will be responsible for the collection and processing of blood and tissue samples before and after transplantation. The applicant will assist with the initiation and maintenance of multiple cell cultures related to cell therapy and immunological monitoring the allograft recipients after transplantation.

Must be able to manage multiple projects, as well as help the principal investigator, postdoctoral associates and other team members coordinating and completing their studies. The applicant should be highly motivated to learn, detail-oriented, able to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently. This individual will collect, organize, and analyze medical and research data. Sound judgment, strong analytical skills, and exceptional interpersonal skills are a must.

 
Significant experience in animal care may be substituted for degree requirement; experience in animal care related to organ transplantation preferred.
