The Department of Engineering Technology at College of Technology is seeking candidates for a non-tenure track instructional assistant professor position with a nine-month academic appointment with an anticipated start date of January 2023.

We seek exceptional teacher-scholars committed to developing or enhancing a robust curriculum; and delivering innovative, hands-on learning experiences to support our academic mission. The main responsibility of the position is high quality student-centered teaching, including course preparation, delivery, and assessment. Course assignments may be at both the undergraduate and graduate levels within the department and may include mechanical engineering topics such as statics, dynamics, systems dynamics, computer aided design and simulation, solid mechanics, machine design, engineering graphics, and quality control.

Starting January 2023, the College of Technology will merge with the Cullen College of Engineering to bring better outcomes for our students and better opportunities for our faculty/staff to meet our research and service mission.

Following the vision of University of Houston (UH) Chancellor and President Renu Khator, the College of Technology is beginning its journey to the Sugar Land campus. The College of Technology (CoT) building opened at UH at Sugar Land in 2019, featuring state-of-the-art labs, classrooms, and meeting spaces. A recent legislative session approved funding for a second CoT building at UH at Sugar Land. The expectation is that all CoT programs and departments will be at Sugar Land by 2025.

Qualifications

: 

A Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering or related areas is required. Postdoctoral and/or industry experience is preferred.

Candidates will be expected to excel in teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses and contribute to the continuous improvement and outcome-based assessment and accreditation of the program.
