All About You


Saint Louis University (SLU), a Catholic, Jesuit institution, dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service, is seeking candidates for the Sister Mary Imelda Pingel, S.S.M. Endowed Professorship in Physical Therapy. Individuals with an outstanding research/ scholarly record who are committed to advancing the science and/or practice of physical therapy are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will conduct research/scholarship, provide leadership, and provide mentorship that enriches the Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training, the Doisy College of Health Sciences, and SLU.

This is a tenured professor 9-month faculty position. A competitive total compensation package including recurring endowed funds, start- up funds, and a generous benefit plan are provided. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.

There are presently 14 full-time faculty members in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program, who engage in teaching, research/scholarship activities, and participate in service to the University, the profession, and the community. Consistent with the research goals of the College and University, faculty are committed to enhancing the Program’s research profile via implementation of the Program’s strategic plan.

SLU is a Carnegie Research University (high research activity) and currently employs over 3,000 full and part-time faculty and enrolls more than 13,000 students in the graduate, professional, and undergraduate programs. The Program in Physical Therapy is housed in the Doisy College of Health Sciences. Faculty have access to classrooms and laboratories with state-of-the-art teaching and research technologies. The Doisy College of Health Sciences houses a dynamic, interdisciplinary Integrated and Applied Sciences PhD program.


Position Requirements

Required

  • Current physical therapist license in the United States, Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands by start date
  • Evidence of extramural grant funding and peer-reviewed publications
  • Evidence of developing and executing a high impact research agenda
  • Evidence of leading interdisciplinary research programs
  • National or international professional reputation

Academic Requirements

  • Earned academic doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D.) or
  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) with specialty certification (e.g., American Board of Physical Therapy Speicialties board certification) . Preferred
  • Evidence of teaching or mentoring experience at the university level (e.g., course coordinator, laboratory instructor or lecturer, mentoring doctoral or postdoctoral students).

Position Expectations
  • Research/scholarship in area of expertise
  • Fostering collaborations across the College, University, academic field, and industry, the engagement and supervision of graduate and undergraduate students in research/scholarship, the engagement and mentoring of new faculty members in research/scholarship, and outreach to the broader community

  • Participation in University, professional, and community service
