Job Title: Associate or Senior Editor, Nature Genetics

Location: New York, Berlin, London, Shanghai

Nature Genetics is looking for an Associate or Senior Editor to join the editorial team. Nature Genetics publishes the very highest quality research in genetics and genomics. It encompasses genetic and functional genomic studies on human and plant traits and on other model organisms. Current emphasis is on the genetic basis for common and complex diseases and on the functional mechanism, architecture and evolution of gene networks, studied by experimental perturbation. Members of the editorial team participate in all aspects of the editorial process including manuscript selection and managing the peer review process, commissioning and editing Reviews, Comments and News & Views articles, and writing for the journal. Nature Genetics editors also organize and attend conferences, visit laboratories, and maintain close contact with the international scientific community.

You will have a broad interest in science, excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, and the ability to critically evaluate research submitted to the broad biological areas covered by the journal. You will be fluent in spoken and written English, with an eagerness to learn new fields and engage with the scientific community.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in genetics, genomics or a related area of biomedical research, and ideally some postdoctoral experience. Candidates with additional expertise in bioinformatics are particularly encouraged to apply. Full training is given, but candidates with editorial experience may be considered for a Senior Editor position.

The position will be based in the Springer Nature offices in New York, London, Berlin or Shanghai on a hybrid working model.
