POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS IN VIROLOGY AND IMMUNOLOGY

Cleveland Clinic

Job Description

POSTDOCTORALPOSITIONS IN VIROLOGYANDIMMUNOLOGY

Cleveland Clinic Florida Research and Innovation Center

Dr. Emily Speranza’s laboratory at the Florida Research and Innovation Center of Cleveland Clinic, Port Saint Lucie, Florida, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellows with a background in immunology, virology, computational biology or closely related fields to be part of a team working to understand the interplay of viral pathogens with the immune system in the infection microenvironment.

Our group is interested in profiling and defining the infection microenvironment, with a focus on what is happening in barrier tissues that can prevent further viral dissemination. The lab combines immunology, virology, and computational approaches to deeply profile and generate models of host-pathogen interactions within complex tissues. We employ cutting edge technologies to profile the host response following an infection at both bulk and single cell levels. This is coupled with applications of high content tissue imaging on both tissue sections and in 3D. Moreover, the group is interested in defining how molecular interactions of pathogens with the innate immune system can lead to changes in pathogenesis by modulation of the tissue level response to the pathogen. This work can lead to new host-based therapeutic approaches that are more directly targeted at the cell type and tissue where the major battle between the host and the pathogen are taking place.

The Cleveland ClinicFlorida Research and Innovation Center (CC-FRIC) is dedicated to the discovery and advancement of innovative translational research focused on infectious diseases and immuno-oncology. The Center is an exceptional state-of-the-art facility and has Shared Resource Flow Cytometry, Imaging, Bioinformatics, and BSL-3/ABSL-3 facilities https://www.lerner.ccf.org/fric/ . The CC-FRIC is part of the recently established Global Center for Pathogen Research & Human Healthof Cleveland Clinichttps://www.lerner.ccf.org/pathogen-research/
