Weill Cornell Medicine is seeking a qualified candidate for a full-time Postdoctoral Associate position.

We seek a highly motivated individual to join an academic/pharma drug discovery team. The goal of the project is the development of novel non-opioid antihyperalgesics for the treatment of neuropathic pain. The successful candidate will engage in cutting-edge high-content and high-throughput electrophysiology, molecular modeling and predictive drug design, and nanobody-small molecule conjugation and screening. Demonstrated expertise in at least one of these areas is required. This is at minimum a two-year position, available immediately. This position is supported by NIH funding and will be paid according to NIH pay scale.

We are looking for an outstanding Postdoctoral Associate in New York, NY who can work alongside our experts in ion channel biophysics, molecular biology, neuroscience, and anesthesiology.

Job responsibilities:

?     Contribute to conceptual and practical aspects of program strategy

?     Use a Sophion automated patch clamp to characterize small molecule inhibitors of human HCN1

?     Develop/validate small molecule-protein conjugation strategies – e.g. unnatural amino acid-directed Click chemistry

?     Collaborate with internal and external partners to further cryo-EM, molecular modeling and molecular dynamics

?     Communicates results to internal stakeholders and external partners through confidential reports and peer reviewed research publications.

Qualifications

Required:

?     A PhD in a quantitative field such as biophysics, pharmacology, neuroscience, cellular physiology, or related discipline

?     Demonstrated expertise in at least one of electrophysiology, molecular modeling and predictive drug design, and/or nanobody-small molecule conjugation and screening

?     Demonstrated scientific excellence as measured by publications and presentations

?     Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills

?     Ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment

?     Excellent attention to detail required

Preferred:

?     Expert proficiency in one or more programming languages (such as Python, R, Julia).

?     Experience writing re-usable and well-documented code in one or more analytical engines (such as Igor or MATLAB)

Salary and Appointment Details

?     Postdoctoral research associates are provided an annual stipend compliant with the current NIH scale for the first year of the role, and an inflation adjusted salary for year 2 when reappointed.

?     This position is for a minimum two-year term with the potential for renewal
