Assistant / Associate Professor in Data Analytics (9-month, Tenure Track)

Job Description

Samford University’s Brock School of Business invites individuals interested in serving in a Christian university environment to apply for an Assistant / Associate Professor faculty position within the Economics, Finance & Quantitative Analysis Department. This tenure-track faculty position is a nine-month appointment that will begin in August 2023.

 

All candidates for this position must exhibit strong teaching skills, be supportive of the University’s mission, and be committed to maintaining an ongoing research effort. Qualified candidates will hold an earned Doctorate in Statistics, Data Science/Analytics, Information Science, Economics or other closely related field. ABDs near completion will be considered at the rank of Assistant Professor. Preference will be given to candidates that have demonstrated experiences on industry-based data analytics projects or leading students through industry interfacing consulting or course specific projects. Additionally, preference will be given to candidates that have demonstrated competencies using various data analytics software tools and applications.

 

Assistant Professor candidates should have 1-6 years of experience as a full-time faculty member or be ABD nearing completion of their doctorate. Additionally, these candidates should have demonstrated research abilities and positive experiences teaching data / quantitative methods / statistics type courses.

Associate Professor candidates should have 7 or more years of experience as a full-time faculty member, an established record of published research and an active research agenda that would allow the candidate to be classified as Scholarly Academic based on the Brock School’s AACSB classification rubric. Additionally, these candidates should have experience teaching multiple data / quantitative methods / statistics type courses as well as experience in new course development or curriculum innovation.

The normal teaching load for faculty is 3 courses per semester, and research is required, although research expectations are commensurate with the teaching load. Summer teaching and competitive research grants are also available. A commitment to academic excellence and the ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, students and colleagues is expected.
