Job Description
North Hennepin Community College, one of the largest and most diverse two-year colleges in Minnesota, is accepting applications for the position of Temporary Part-Time, Nursing Faculty.
The Nursing Department at NHCC is an engaged faculty interested in delivering the highest level of instruction to our students. Faculty members work as a team to consistently deliver content to students interested in pursuing their Associate Degree in Nursing – ADNNHCC nursing is part of the Minnesota Alliance for Nursing Education (MANE Consortium). In this alliance students could earn their baccalaureate degree in Nursing at Metro state University after completion of Semester 5 at NHCC.
This position will teach clinical courses along with other courses in the Nursing catalog.

    • Teaches nursing courses (including laboratory and clinical).

    • Participates in the assessment of student learning outcomes.
    • Practices contemporary teaching strategies, including learner outcome assessments and online instruction.
    • Maintains continued professional development in Nursing as well as in the areas of teaching and learning.

 


*This positing is for Spring Semester 2023. Continued employment in subsequent semesters is based upon availability of teaching credits, faculty availability, and continued interest.
Required Qualifications
Education Requirement:
    • Bachelor degree in nursing

 

Occupational Experience Requirement:
  • Four full-time (or equivalent) years of verified related paid work experience as a registered nurse.
Recency Requirement:
  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Professional Requirement:
  • Current Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree with a major in nursing, nursing administration, nursing education, public health nursing or a nursing clinical specialty.
  • Experience teaching college level nursing including laboratory and clinical
  • Experience teaching undergraduates in a community college setting.
  • Evidence of commitment to student success and persistence.
  • Experience with learner outcomes assessment and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to educate adult learners, multi-lingual learners, students with disabilities, and international students.
  • Experience serving diverse and historically underserved populations.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Working knowledge of alternative instructional techniques and delivery methods such as online education, education platforms (D2L Brightspace), digital technology, etc.
  • Experience in online teaching or demonstrated willingness to learn and develop online courses.
  • Exceptional team player who is willing to devote time to students and the department.
Other Requirements
In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (Minnesota State) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State’s vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.

Salary:
Temporary Part-Time faculty are paid per credit; per-credit pay rate is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the 2019-2021 Master Agreement between the Minnesota State Board of Trustees and the Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF).

Benefits:
Temporary Part-time faculty are eligible for benefits after a one-semester waiting period based upon their assigned credit-load. Benefits include low-cost health and dental insurance, employer-paid life insurance, paid personal and sick leave, defined benefit and defined contribution plans, optional 457(b) and 403(b) retirement savings plans, and tuition waiver for employees and dependents.
