| Position Description | The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures seeks to appoint a tenure-track professor of French in the 17th and 18th centuries. The successful candidate will have knowledge of French literature, philosophy and culture in a period extending from the Grand Siècle to the aftermath of the French Revolution. Candidates should also have a capacious view of the culture of this period that extends beyond the traditional canon. We especially seek candidates who have command of contemporary theories and expertise in other fields. |
| Basic Qualifications | The Department will consider candidates with a PhD from disciplines other than French Studies, but fluency in French required. Doctorate required by the time the appointment begins on July 1, 2023. The tenure-track professor will be responsible for teaching four courses a year at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Demonstrated strong commitment to advising is crucial. |
